The great Irish aaappu!

Technically, ‘aaappu’ (ஆப்பு ) in Tamil, is a metal or wooden piece that’s kept between the tyres of a moving vehicle, to stop it or to reduce speed. This was traditionally used in olden days chariots as they didn’t have brakes. So an aaappu can be loosely translated as ‘brake’. No word suits better than ‘aaappu’ to describe Kevin O’Brien’s knock in yesterday’s match against the English.

Should I take back my words, that the Minnows matches are just a piece of comedy interlude? What a match it was!
